Landscape
The theme for my project is different Landscapes and I hope to explore both seascapes and urban , comparing and contrasting the two. I hope to take images of landscapes at different times of the day and different times of the year.
For my research I will look at different photographers and artist related to landscape and urban landscape to gain some inspiration and ideas to help me when I take my own photographs related to Landscape. The photographers I have in mind are Toby Keller , Will Barton and Berenice Abbott.
I will visit different locations like Anglesy in Wales and the Urban city of London.
The way I will explore the theme Landscape is to capture Anglsey and London from different perspectives. To me Anglesy will show natural forms such as rocks, fields, water and natural texture. Whereas London will be more Urban with tall buildings, glass buildings, bridges and lots of different structures.
The equipment I will be using is a DSLR Cannon camera on manual which will allow me to demonstrate my camera skills such as depth of field, aperture and white balance. Then I will be able to manipulate and experiment more with my photographs using the program Photoshop. The skills that I have already learnt on Photoshop is to add filters, use the different tools to delete sections and add colour. I feel that the skills I have already used will be my starting point when experiment and developing my images to show the theme Landscape.

Toby Keller
Context: The images above have been taken on a local California beaches in autumn November 2007.
Toby Keller is an artist who specializes in night landscape photography and experimenting with simple strings of light. He uses a very long exposure on his photos in order to move within the composition creating trails of light when the final photos are produced.
Content: Toby Keller has taken pictures of beaches you can see rocks, sea, clouds, trees, the sun, sand and light that he has added to the rocks using a light source he has used a slow exposure to capture some of his images.
The images are in colour I think its in colour as he wants to show how light can be used in photography.
The images have been taken using a large depth of field.
Comment: I have picked these Images because of the way he has used light on the rocks and coming out of the sand. My favourite image is Stomy because he has used a large depth of field to capture everything the rocks, the sea and the sky also the colours are bright.
Composition
In stormy he has used the rule of thirds and has placed the rocks at the front of the image which allows you to see the detail of the rocks, two thirds of the pictures is the colour blue made up of the sea and the sky in comparison with the pastel colour of the rocks.

Anglesey
In Anglesey I am going to take pictures of the beach which will show a winter atmosphere as I will be taking these images in February.I am going to take pictures of the sea, sky, rocks and texture.
I am going to capture pictures that show my ideas of how I see landscape.

worst image
This is my worst image because its over exposed its to bright to much light has been let in meaning you can not see the cliff. I must have used the wrong setting on the camera next time I will check my exposure setting.
MY BEST IMAGE IT WAS HARD TO PICK ONE
I love this image because of the way the waves are clattering against the cliffs. I think it creates an atmosphere and shows the power of the sea . I like the composition of this photograph as the cliff is on the right hand side showing a strong contrast of colour. I also got the depth of field correct because everything is in focus.
work done on photoshop
I have used new adjustment layer and changed my original image to black and white
work on photoshop part2
I went to Anglesey in February the weather was cold this is the reason why some of the images are dull and misty. The way I have captured the weather can be seen in my beach photographs. I have been given the opportunity to go to London in July I will be able to capture a different season in my photographs.
When I go to London I will focus on buildings and structure this will allow me to compare and contrast my photographs of landscape and urban landscape.
Going to London will give me a new perspective of how I will capture landscape photography.

London Trip
In London I am going to take some interesting images that link to the photographers I am researching photographs of buildings and other surroundings.
for example> City skylines Capturing some interesting view points.

ZeroOne
I have found this photograph on a website called Flickr it has been taken by a user name called Zer0One who comes from Finland. He takes photographs in New York and other cities but with a different approach.
The reason I have chosen this image is because I like the idea of a pigeon over looking the city as if it was a super hero. The rule of thirds has been used in this photograph making the viewer look at the pigeon then the city. When I go to London I will use these images to inspire my work.
The photographer has taken this is image from a birds eye view. The theme is cityscape this will relate to my work as London is a city.
Berenice Abbott
In this image the photographer has used the structure of the beams to frame the New York City scene. When I first looked at this image each section showed a different scene like a collage of images however I thought it could have been taken at a certain angle to capture all of these scenes. After researching the photographer in more depth the image has been created as a photomontage .
My eyes are drawn to the different images in the sections as the photographer has captured different scene of New York such as tourism, city scape and the working side. It has been put together to create a seamless final image. I think the photographer was trying to capture in this image the meaning of industry and construction.
The rule of thirds has been used to show the structure of the beams. The beams create a pattern as they cross over each other and the bolts also creates a pattern.
The mood of the photograph to me is dull because of the use of black and white. If this image was in colour it would be confusing to look at as there is so much going on however in black and white it is easier to see what is happening in the photographs.
What I like about this photograph is the way it has been put together and how the beams are bold and eye-catching I feel this image has given me some inspiration ideas for my future work.

Photographer research : Will Barton
The photographer has used a large depth of field you can tell this because the full image is in focus and all the detail can be seen. The photographer had taken a photograph in London of the bridge across the river Tate. It has been taken in the morning I think this because there is not many people around. I like this image as the photographer has captured St Paul's Cathedral in the center of the bridge so your eye is drawn to the center of the photograph. The detail of the clouds to me have a big impact on the photograph. What I dislike about this image is the distraction of the people on the bridge.
Through researching will Barton I discovered that his love of photography came when he was 10 years old.
He loves taking pictures of the things that are accessible to him. He travelled around the world with his work, travel photography was accessible. His passion is for UK landscape photography. Plus he says "having an opportunity to combine my love of the outdoors with this passion for photography, is a total joy."
He gets the greatest enjoyment from working with the most challenging light.
"Dawn and dusk are for me the most fruitful times of the day."
Even though he takes pictures of buildings its the colors in the sky that he likes to capture he finds it challenging getting the lighting right.
He likes to pass on his knowledge of photography through leading photography workshops or tuition sessions.
I feel that his work inspired me when I went to London and took my own photographs as I used similar angles to capture London in the style of his work. The colour of the sky in my photographs can be enhanced on Photoshop to give a more of a dramatic tone.

Developing my ideas
I am going to link my work to the work of Berenice Abbott, her work inspires me because of the way she captures buildings using different compositions. I have captured images of iron structures that I feel will work well on Photoshop using ideas and the inspiration that I have seen in her work. I am going to do this by adding a variety of images from my London trip, combine them with the original image of the iron structure. By using the layer tool and the magnetic tool which will help delete sections of the image I will then add a filter and change it to black and white. I feel that this outcome will show my skills on Photoshop and display the inspiration from the photographer.

Evaluation
The theme for this project was landscape I liked London more than Anglesey because I had more experienced with the camera and in London there was bigger variety in London then Anglesey e.g you could take pictures of: buildings , the lake , boats , the Tate museum but in Anglesey there is only the sea and rocks.
The part of the project I enjoyed the most was Photoshop because I learned more skills and that helped improve my photos.
The new techniques I have learnt are photo montage . Photo montage is taking a photo and cutting , rearranging and overlapping two or more photographs into a new image.
The photographer I have chosen is Berenice Abbott because her photos are similar to mine for example show took a photo montage and it had random images in the gaps of the metal beams so I tried to manipulate the same image but instead I put my London images in the gaps.
