Statement of intent
The theme for this project is weird and wonderful I am going to show the theme using the use of Photoshop.
I am going to create a mood board and a mind map to help with my initial ideas and understanding of what weird and wonderful is.
Then I am going to look at surrealist artists and photographers who create images related to weird and wonderful.
This will help me gain some inspiration.
The equipment I will need is a DSLR camera which will be set on manual and adjusted when needed , Photoshop software and different types of props that are related to the shoot. The techniques I will use will be layering , adding filters , using the magnetic lasso tool to delete sections of my work.

Salvador Dali
Salvador Dali captured a dream and painted it on to a canvas, however to me it looks like an image created on Photoshop because the clock looks like it's melting. There is a filter on Photoshop that can create this effect which I may use in my work. To me he has used a clock with the detail floating away which could mean time is going fast, the image is surreal as you would never see this in real life.
The list of colours he has used are: yellow , brown , blue and white, these colours work together making this image stand out.
I do not know if I like this painting or not, what I like about his work is it can different meanings but I am not sure if I like the subject matter.

Giorgio Cravero
What I like about the photographers work is how the colour is fading away. The whole of the banana is meant to be yellow but it is grey,to me it is as though it is losing its colour because it is dying,or it is sad and the photographer has dipped it in yellow to bring it back to life.
I think the image has been slightly Photoshop because the bananas are floating against the grey background as there are no strings or anything attached to create this effect.
I may not used the idea of dripping paint as it would be to much of a copy but I do like the idea of using fruit as the shapes from fruit are good but simple.

Fruity Owl
This shot is a close up to the owl so you can see the head and most of his body like his chest and wing. Its been took as an owl on the mans shoulder
then has been cropped in so that you can not see the man and you can only see the owl. Then the editor has googled fruits such as a watermelon , melon and a strip of lettuce. Then he has photo shopped the melon on the owl's head and turned the wing into lettuce and the body/ chest as the watermelon. I prefer this image better than the other images that I have chosen because this one is so original and you wouldn't expected a fruity owl. Plus the colors stand out. The depth of field that has been used is a small depth of field and the color range is mostly green to brown and the background is quiet blurry.

Holding The Moon
This is an image of a person sitting down whilst holding the moon. This has been taken as a guy holding his hands out whilst sitting down, he has taken an image of the moon on google then edited the moon to make it glow. Then he photo -shopped the moon in the guys hands. Plus underneath the moon there is a blue glow to make it look real. This is been taken close up to the moon and has been took as hes in his bedroom holding the moon. The lighting is dark. The photographer has used a small depth of field.
Green Gecko
This is an image of a green gecko , The creature is only found in the North land region of New Zealand. The photographer has captured the size of the gecko by using limes in the background. This shot is a close up of the gecko the photographer may have used a medium depth of field as the background is in focus. The colours that have been used are mostly green and some hints of orange. The image is took at a birds eye view.
Limbo Photography/Game
I picked this image because its a game called Limbo.
Its a very dark game and in the image it looks very dangerous / scary. Theres a dead body on a rope. The primary character in Limbo is a nameless boy, who awakens in the middle of a forest on the "edge of hell". This sets the mood very low and every ending of a mission can be very sad and the creator did this because he wants you to feel the same as Limbo. More about the game; The game was released in July 2010 as a platform exclusive title on Xbox.
The game is presented in black-and-white tones, using lighting, film grain effects and minimal ambient sounds to create an eerie atmosphere often associated with the horror genre.

This bulb has a small aquarium
the photographer has took a picture of a light bulb,
then he might of took a image from google images of waves and edited it in photo shop. Then he has cropped the water in the bulb, then he did the same thing with the waves but did it with different fish. The back ground is sea blue and the bottom of the bulb has a blue glow for more effect .

First take
For my first take I am going to take pictures of my fellow class mates jumping of objects using a fast shutter speed in order to capture them in mid air. I need to capture different positions of them jumping to be able to manipulate on Photoshop.

Third take
I am going to take photographs of an apple and a person, I am going to get the person to stand with their hands held in different positions and see which ones works best for my final image.

Research on how to add filters
Now that I have research filters and how they can change my work ,I feel that some of the filters I have looked at may help me with the development for my design ideas. I am going to add different filters on my weird and wonderful project to show my skills on Photoshop.
Spotlight filter
This filter is a spot light filter it has highlighted the area that I have selected. This filter would be good if I wanted to highlight a certain area in my work.
Charcoal filter
This was my least favorite image because the filter is basic not very effective however this could be the image I have used is not suitable for this filter.
liquify filter
I used this filter to make the apple look split in half and for the second image I used the mirror tool on the same filter to make the image appear wonky.
But my favorite image is the 3rd one because I have used a filter called push left which has made the apple melt on the body. The idea for this effect came from my artist research Salvador Dali.

Fifth take
Work on Photoshop
Step 1. I have selected 2 of the photographs that I am going to use, Then I uploaded them to Photoshop
Step 2. Then I layered the 2 images together
Step 3. I selected the layer of the girl I cut around the girl using the lasso tool
Step 2. Then I layered the 2 images together

Final Image
I changed this image because it did not look good as her hands are all ready out of the grid. I thought it would look better if her body was more in the grid.

Evaluation
I began this project by researching a variety of artists and photographers whose work expressed the theme weird and wonderful. When I was given this project I disliked the theme because I knew I would struggle with creating ideas for the subject matter, as I do not understand surrealism and to me that is what the topic weird and wonderful is. However at the beginning I used basic everyday objects and manipulated them on Photoshop but was not impressed, so I researched more and came up with new ideas which I feel fit the theme.
I have explored loads of new techniques in Photoshop and liked how my work has developed because of the new skills I have gained.
For example I have used the magic tool to cut around various objects to put on peoples heads and this creates a weird image, I have also used the liquify filter to change the way the image looks. I have duck linked my progress through Photoshop to show my progression. I used different filters and tools on my images to see what works and what does not work.
